My Visit to Indiana

Last friday, I signed out of school early for my first college football visit. My dad was almost excited as I was because this symbolized my first step towards playing on the next level (possibly at my dad's former college). Terre Haute, Indiana is the location of Indiana State University and thats where I was headed. According to (potential) future teammate CJ Ullysse, this coach had shown interest in bringing me up to play with the Sycamores because of my athletic and academic ability, along with my NFL pedigree. When we touched down in Terre Haute, several things struck me that reminded me that I was not in Weston anymore. For one thing, it was 50 something degrees in the middle of April. The most striking difference was that everyone I met was incredibly friendly. Most people I met were involved in ISU's football program, had seen me play, met my dad, and wanted very badly for me to come up to Indiana.

Not only was this a change of pace for me to be a player who the scouts wanted to come to play football, but I am confident that I could outperform the players at my position on the college level (at least in Indiana). Some of the receivers were converted track runners and had never even played real football before. I have never been cocky, but this trip had me thinking that I may have more potential than I previously thought. As I met more and more people, I realized that this might be a good place for me to be. I could finally be in an environment where I wouldn't have to compete simply to get by, I could focus on my academic and athletic development, possibly even getting exposure enough to play on the next level. If my goal is to play football professionally, the path I have to take is simple. I have a strong work ethic, an extensive NFL pedigree, all I need now is a chance. Indiana State might be that chance for me. Wish me luck.
