The Past is Behind Us

As of the last two hours, I've been laying on the couch watching the highlight tape for the 2008 Cypress Bay Football team. It's kind of depressing to see all of the potential we had, but I like that we were able to come together as a family for arguably the best showing in Cypress Bay's history. Not only did we sign the same amount of football players as national champions St. Thomas Aquinas (they recruit) and tied the record for most wins in Cypress Bay's short history. Despite all of the hype and potential for a state title, we tripped at the finish line, losing in the final seconds to Miramar High School and future West Virginia Mountaineers, Eugene Smith and Steadman Bailey. The most memorable thing about this season was how much the boys who I barely knew around this time last year became my brothers by the time we suited up for the first game. I can't count how many days we all talked about quitting but would never actually consider doing so because we loved being there with each other (no homo) and working hard as a unit towards a common goal.

There are some things in life that we never get a second chance at, but this year it will be different. Through the leadership of the new upperclassmen, we will work towards the ultimate goal of a state championship victory.

Congratulations to the graduating seniors.

  2. Brah I know we were a great team. I think its we just didn't work hard enough for it. I’m not talking about the games but practice and Collin I think you know what I mean. Like how on scout team I would try that hard but if you noticed towards the end of the year I started to feel we can do something special and my practice effort got better. And the thing I love the most is that when I would crack you (sorry) you would get back up and were ready for more. So lets do something Cypress Bay Football has never done before this year.
